This exquisite Maitreya Buddha Thangka is a masterfully hand-painted depiction of the Future Buddha, revered in Tibetan Buddhism for his promise to appear in the world when the teachings of Dharma are forgotten. He is shown seated in his iconic posture atop a beautifully adorned throne, which rests on a blooming lotus base symbolizing purity and spiritual awakening.
Maitreya’s right hand is extended outward over his right knee in the vitarka mudra, a gesture of teaching and wisdom. In his left hand, he gently holds a utpala flower, on top of which rests a Dharmachakra (Dharma Wheel)—a sacred symbol of the Buddha’s teachings and the cycle of life.
Above the central figure, a majestic dragon soars in the top right corner, while soft, swirling clouds drift in the top left, adding movement and depth. The throne is surrounded by vividly painted, blooming flowers, radiating peace and natural beauty.
On both sides of the throne, snow-capped mountains and lush hills rise from behind drifting clouds. Delicate waterfalls cascade down into sacred ponds, reflecting the serene and harmonious realm of the Bodhisattva.
Below Maitreya Buddha, the landscape continues with intricate depictions of trees, birds, waterfalls, and green hills, creating a vibrant scene of spiritual abundance. At the center bottom, an offering bowl rests on a lotus flower emerging from the sacred pond. It holds symbolic items representing the five senses: a mirror (sight), conch shell (sound), incense and perfume (smell), fruits or food (taste), and silk cloth (touch).
The painting is bordered with Dharma wheels in various colors, signifying the infinite turning of the wheel of Dharma. This Maitreya Buddha Thangka is hand-painted on high-quality cotton canvas using durable acrylic paints, enhanced with lavish 24K gold detailing, and set against a striking black background.
Created in the traditional Tibetan thangka style, this artwork is both a sacred spiritual object and a stunning visual centerpiece. Perfect for meditation spaces, collectors, or spiritual art enthusiasts.
