The Four-Armed Chaturbhuja Mahakala is a significant Tibetan Buddhist statue representing wealth, protection, and eliminating obstacles. It is crafted from copper with a rich gold plating and is ideal for placement on a travel shrine or altar. The Four-Armed Mahakala is a key guardian for the Karma Kagyu, Drikung Kagyu, and Drukpa Kagyu Lineages. The most minor order is five pieces for each statue, with 10 required.
The Chaturbhuja Mahakala statue has four arms representing different aspects of power and protection. The upper right hand holds a skull cup brimming with blood, symbolizing the domination of adverse energies. The lower right hand has a rosary, symbolizing his commitment to safeguarding those following the path of Dharma. The upper left hand holds a trident, symbolizing the eradication of the three poisons: ignorance, desire, and hatred. The lower left hand holds a dammar, a small drum representing the resonance of Dharma.
The Chaturbhuja Mahakala statue's intense demeanour reflects a deep sense of empathy, while the crown of skulls symbolizes the elevation beyond self and emotional ties. The halo of flames symbolizes the fire of wisdom that consumes all obstacles. The statue stands over a fallen figure, representing the defeat of falsehoods and opposing forces.
