This exquisite Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka is a sacred depiction of the historical Buddha at the moment of enlightenment. At the center sits Shakyamuni in serene meditation, his form calm yet powerful. He is portrayed in Bhumisparsha Mudra, the earth-touching gesture. His right hand extends downward, calling the earth to witness his awakening. His left rests gently in his lap, symbolizing inner stillness and deep meditative focus.
He sits upon a radiant golden lotus throne, surrounded by blooming lotuses and flower buds, symbolizing purity and the blossoming of spiritual wisdom. The backdrop features sweeping Himalayan landscapes. Snow-capped peaks, mist-covered hills, and cascading rivers flow into sacred ponds, reflecting the harmony between nature and the enlightened mind.
Above the central figure are the Five Dhyani Buddhas, seated gracefully on lotus thrones. At the far right is Ratnasambhava, and to the far left is Amoghasiddhi, both emerging from vibrant clouds. In between are Akshobhya, Vairocana, and Amitabha, surrounded by budding lotus flowers and lush leaves. These celestial Buddhas represent the purified aspects of consciousness and spiritual transformation.
Below the Buddha are his two revered disciples. Shariputra, at the lower right, is depicted as an elderly monk with a peaceful, contemplative expression. He stands in a respectful pose, holding a khakkhara (monastic staff) in his right hand and a begging bowl raised in his left. He embodies supreme wisdom among the Buddha’s followers.
To the lower left is Maudgalyayana, portrayed with a more intense yet compassionate gaze. Like Shariputra, he holds a khakkhara in his right hand, while his left cradles a begging bowl close to his chest. He represents spiritual powers (siddhi) and deep empathy. Their presence grounds the painting in humility and devotion.
Between them lies a sacred offering bowl placed atop a small hill rising from a tranquil pond. Inside are five symbolic offerings—a mirror (sight), conch shell (sound), incense (smell), fruits or food (taste), and a silk cloth (touch). Together, they represent the perfection of the five senses and offerings to enlightened beings.
Encircling the painting, mantras are gracefully divided by vibrant Dharma wheels, enriching its spiritual symbolism and visual allure.
This Shakyamuni Buddha Thangka is hand-painted on fine cotton canvas, using rich acrylic colors and detailed with 24-karat gold accents. Crafted in the traditional Tibetan style against a black background, it reflects both sacred artistry and timeless devotion.
